Geary County Policy Manual
View the Employee Handbook for a list of Geary County Policies. This handbook was revised and approved by the Board of County Commissioners with an effective date of October 1, 2025. New employees have 30-days from date of hire to read and acknowledge the policies. Current employees have 30-days (until October 31, 2025), to read the revised handbook, and sign and return the receipt to Human Resources. Handbook Review Acknowledgement -
Grandfathered Policies (only for those who signed, electing to remain subject to the original policies prior to the new policies enacted in 2023; not all aspects of the policy remain, including but not limited to: No employee may utilize paid leave to extend their work period once they've provided notice to terminate; paid leave time does not count towards overtime; additionally, employees may not "buy back" unused annual leave.) Included in the booklet is our annual "Creditable Coverage" notice. This notice is to inform participants enrolled in our group health plan that all current medical plan options are “creditable.” This notice should be saved by anyone enrolled in our benefit plan who is currently Medicare eligible or will be soon. If you have questions about the relevance of the notice, please contact Human Resources.

We use Lucet (a subsidiary of BCBS of KS) for our Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Need to talk to someone about a stressor - good or bad - in your life? Need to know where to go for finances, legal, social concerns? Call EAP!

Need to update your taxes? Federal Tax Form W-4 or State (Kansas) Tax Form K-4
Want to change how you receive your pay? Complete the Pay Distribution Form. You may elect Direct Deposit, and/or Pay Card. In order to protect you, your identity and your payment, these forms are required to be submitted in person to Human Resources at least one week prior to pay day.
Have a Disability - need an Accommodation? Complete the Accommodation Request Form.
BENEFICIARY CHANGE - Select this form to update your KPERS/KP&F beneficiary; or this form to update your beneficiary for KPERS 457 (Empower Retirement). These forms may be faxed, or submitted to Human Resources to process through a secure upload.
